(This Rig Has Sold!)

Vintage 1983 Custom Hiwatt 50 Half-Stack

Virtually Brand New!

This Week Only - $950!

New Levels of Old-School Awesome!!!

So how can an ’83 Biacrown-era Hiwatt half-stack be “virtually brand new?”  That’s what we asked when we first saw this immaculate amp and cab.  It turns out that this rig was abandoned at a Los Angeles storage facility some 17 years ago, still in its flight cases. And it has basically remained there, stuck in a temperature-controlled room full of other cases, until it was recently discovered.  We’re not sure what the story was prior to that, but THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT THIS RIG HAS EVER PLAYED A SHOW!  It is in perfect condition and – best of all – sounds absolutely incredible.  This is one of those fairly tale gear stories, for sure.

Motherfucker looks brand new,
doesn't it?

The Biacrown Hiwatt era began in 1983, starting with the serial number 16000.  This amp is 16014, so that tells us that it was one of the first out of the Surbiton factory in England.  It also tells us that it more than likely has a Harry Joyce chassis (with Drake transformers).

As for the OL in the model number of the amp, this is something unique and special to the Biacrown era.  This rare distinction refers to some of the new circuitry that was implemented in these models to jack-up the gain structure, which enabled the amp to kick into overdrive mode much easier than the usual Hiwatt head.  This gives you a best-of-both-worlds situation: the amp has all of that signature, killer clean richness that you love about a Hiwatt.  But, this model can go super heavy, as well!  This is why many Hiwatt fanatics prefer the Biacrown amps to other models.  Go clean or go heavy… no problem.

The 4 x 12 cab appears to have celestions in it, based on the “C” in the model number.
This cab absolutely crushes, is in killer condition and is built like a tank.

This is truly is one of the best sounding
half-stacks we’ve ever heard!

Buy the half-stack and get both cases for only $200!

The flight cases have a lot to do with why this half-stack has remained in such pristine condition.  They appear to fit the amp and cab perfectly, almost as if they were custom made for them!  This has created an “air-free” zone for this rig through the years, almost as if it was kept in a crypt.  These cases would be worth many hundreds of dollars, and are also in great shape.  But we would love to see the buyer take them, so we’re offering a super special package rate: get the cabinet case at only $100, or both for only $200!

This is an insane value, people!
